League leader Kordall Steelers (8:1) had no difficulties to storm past Mamer, still playing without Denell Stephens, the final score was 96:65. The hosts won despite playing without league leading scorer Barkley. Oberweiser stepped up with 27 points while Lazar Lukic added 22 points. Mamer had 3 players in double digits and was led by McDaniel’s 27 points, the team has a 1:7 record after 8 games on the bottom of the standings.
Gréngewald and BC Mess had a very intense fight and the game was decided in the final seconds as the hosts came up with a 65:62 win. Barnes and Overwater had 19 points apiece as the greens improve to 6:2 in the standings and stay in second plaxce behind leader Kordall Steelers. Coleman led Mess with 25 while JICL league topscorer Maxime Sunnen added 15 points, Mess has won 3 out of 8 games so far.
The Hedgehogs Bascharage won the most spectacular game this weekend. Down by 2 points with 0.5 seconds remaining, Greg Logins Jr received the pass off the inbounds play and made a 3-pointer to win the game on the road in Mondorf, what a shot! (video) These are the kind of plays that could become decisive in the promotion race at the end of the season. Logins led his team with 24 points while Ndiaye (23), Morton (14) and Kuhlmann (14) had good scoring games as well. Mondorf had 5 players in double digits but lost this game in the most brutal way and now trails the opponent by 2 points in the standings.
On Sunday, AS Zolwer managed to grab an easy win over the visiting team from Mersch (104:57) despite playing with only 1 professional player. 4 JICL players had 10+ points for Zolwer (Vic Heuschling scored 13 points in his season debut and return after ACL-injury, Gilles Weis had 18, Davide Grün scored 13 and Vincent Sunnen had a JICL season high 29 points including 8 « 3-pointers »). Zolwer hit 18 shots from behind the arc and now has a balanced record and is tied with Mondorf at the 4th place in the standings. Black Star (1:7) is tied with Mamer at the bottom of the standings.
