The final game day of the regular season (game day 22) is on the schedule on SATURDAY in the men’s Enovos League and plenty of questions need to be answered. While the 8 play-off teams are known for some time, some decisions on the seedings remain open on this final game day with plenty of possibilities ahead.
Etzella clinched the first seed
League leader Etzella Ettelbruck has clinched the first seed, the team will enter every play-off series that they play with home court advantage.
Basket Esch enters as the fourth seed
Basket Esch is the second team that knows its definite seeding, the team will enter the play-offs as the number 4 seed. In a potential 3-team tie with T71 and Amicale, T71 would take the second seed, Amicale the third and Esch the fourth seed.
T71 can defend the second place with a victory
T71 Dudelange is currently second, tied with Amicale and 1 point ahead of Basket Esch. With a victory, T71 remains second as the team owns the direct comparison over Amicale. If both teams (T71/Amicale) lose, T71 remains second as well and in potential 3-team tie with T71 and Amicale, T71 would take the second seed, Amicale the third and Esch the fourth seed.
Amicale will finish second or third
League champion Amicale Steinsel can jump to the second place with a victory in Contern and a loss by T71 at the same time. If both teams win or lose, Amicale remains third. In a potential 3-team tie with T71 and Amicale, T71 would take the second seed, Amicale the third and Esch the fourth seed.
In summary, the top 4 seeds are fixed for the first seed (Etzella) and the fourth seed (Basket Esch), T71 and Amicale will battle for the second seed.
Contern can clinch the 5th spot
The easiest scenario for Contern is to win the game against Amicale and finish 5th in the standings. If Contern loses, Arantia and/or Sparta could tie with the team in 2- or 3-team tie scenarios. Contern earns the direct comparison against Sparta, but lost the direct comparison against Arantia. In a 3-team-tie scenario with Contern/Arantia/Sparta, Arantia takes the 5th spot, Contern takes the 6th spot and Sparta takes the 7th spot.
Arantia could jump to 5th place and fall to 8th
Arantia is currently 6th but could jump to 5th if they tie with Contern or in a 3-team tie scenario with Contern and Sparta. However, Arantia could also fall to 8th place with a loss. Arantia could also stay in 6th place with a victory against Walfer and a victory by Contern at the same time.
Résidence could jump to 6th place
Currently 8th, Résidence Walfer could make a jump to 7th place with a victory over Arantia. If Sparta loses at the same time, Résidence will finish 6th as they are the best team in a 3-team scenario.
Sparta will finish 6th or 7th
Sparta does not earn a tie-breaker against Contern and is 3rd in a 3-team-tie scenario against Contern and Arantia. The team could stay in 7th place with a loss and a victory by Résidence at the same time. If Sparta beats Heffingen and Arantia loses at the same time, the team from Bertrange will finish 6th.
