Anne Simon has made some noise over the last 2 years with her extraordinary performances in the USA where she is currently studying and playing at MAINE University. As our women national team is currently in the middle of the preparation for the FIBA women’s European Championship 2021 in Cyprus (July 20-25), Simon is trying to find her role in the team.
„I am happy that we finally have some games with the national team after we did not have an event all of last year. It is fun to play with a different team and I am looking forward to it, I am sure that we will have a lot of fun » says Simon who is looking to find her role in the team. „As a point guard, it is my role to organize the game. There is a lot of room for improvement for me in that area to take over the role of a leader on the court but I am looking forward to the challenge. »
Asked about the goals of team Luxembourg, Simon says that the goal „is to win a medal, and obviously the main goal would be to come home with the gold medal. I expect Cyprus and Kosovo to have a great team as well and we will have to see what will be possible for us. »
Over a long period, Cathy Schmit (Musel Pikes) has been the starting point guard for team Luxembourg. She retired from the national team and said in an interview with luxembourg.basketball 1 year ago that Simon and Mreches can take over her role in the team.
