Anne Simon is starting her professional career in Italy (Serie A) for Alama San Martino next weekend.
Simon is impressed about the country and the team: „The first impression in Italy is amazing. San Martino is a small city, but Venedig and Treviso are only 30-40 minutes away so that it is a very interesting place to live, it clearly does not get boring » says the 24-year old national team player. „The team, my coaches and the entire staff are extremely helpful and kind, I like the situation within the club. »
Simon is known for her scoring power and presence on the defensive end, she is looking forward to showing her abilities at this strong level of play: „My role in the team is really promising and exactly what I was looking for. I like the way that we approach the game. Because we are small compared to other teams, we will play agressive defense which is something I admire. Unfortunately our roster is not complete at this moment because we are waiting for a player from the WNBA to join our team soon, but she will probably miss the start of the season. »
Simon also likes her new every day life as a professional player: „We practice for 2 hours in the morning, usually one hour is dedicated to strength workout. In the evening, we have 2 hour team practice and sometimes, we have a film session before the practice to analyze the opponent or our own game. The practice can be exhausting and challenging but that is something that I love to do. »
The first game of the regular season in Italy is scheduled for October 6th, a home game against « Basket GEAS ».
