The Luxembourgish sports press union has announced the winners in the categories « athlete of the year », « team of the year » and « coach of the year » for the year 2023 in a ceremony on Thursday evening in Mondorf.
Several basketball teams and individual people were nominated in the categories. The 3X3 women and the 5vs5 men were nominated in the category « team of the year », Ken Diederich was nominated in the category « coach of the year » and Ben Kovac was nominated in the catgegory « athlete of the year ».
Ehis Etute won the « prix of the jeune espoir » (youth price) for her exceptional performances with T71 Dudelange and the (youth) national team last year. She was on stage and answered a couple of questions about her performances in 2023 and about her future in the USA where she will play for the Oregon Dukes in the upcoming season.

Ken Diederich, head of basketball at the FLBB and men’s national team head coach, was 3rd in the voting for coach of the year. The men’s 5vs5 national team finished the voting in 5th place while the women’s 3X3 team finished in 6th place. Ben Kovac finished 7th in the voting for male athlete of the year.
