On Wednesday-evening, the second semi-final was played in the men’s Loterie Nationale Coupe de Luxembourg. Basket Esch was able to win a nailbiter against Hesperange in front of 1100 spectators and will face Arantia Larochette in the final on Saturday.
Basket Esch – Telstar 76:74
– Telstar hit 5 3-pointers in the first quarter and led 24:23 after a buzzer beater by Gary Pleimling (video)
– Led by Foster and Jefferson (both with 12 points before the break), Telstar kept its lead and too a 47:42 advantage into the second half
– Telstar continued to hit outside shots (11 in the first 3 quarters) and had an 11-point-lead going into the 4th quarter (67:56)
– In thrilling final minutes, Steven Green put Esch ahead by 2 points (video), Telstar had one last chance but missed a difficult 3-point shotand lost the game (video)
– Green led Esch with 29 points, Rugg (18) and the Biever-brothers (11 points) also scored in double digits
