Basket Esch wins game 3 and enters the finals (video-highlights + press-articles)

On Friday-evening, the decisive game 3 in the men’s semi-finals was played between Etzella and Basket Esch. Basket Esch qualifies for the finals after a strong performance on the road.

Etzella – Basket Esch 78:88
– Esch had the better start and was able to build a lead early while Etzella was once again struggling with turnovers (12 in the first half). Furthermore, Pwono (2 quick fouls) sat on the bench for 7 minutes in the first and second quarter
– Just like in game 2, Kovac provided a spark from the bench with 10 points in the first half, Esch led 44:29 at the break despite playing most of the second quarter without Jackson-Cartwright who left the game after 11 minutes and did not return before the break
– Ivan Delgado left the game on the first play in the third quarter with an injury, but his team reduced the deficit to 9 points in the following minutes
– Basket Esch made another run in the 3rd quarter and made all the big plays (videos) to increase the lead, Joé Biever hit shots from outside and was able to show creative moves to give his team a big spark
– Etzella was not able to get in reach in the final quarter, they cut to lead to 8 points with 4 minutes remaining but did not come closer
– Rugg, Joé Biever, Jackson-Cartwright and Kovac all scored 15+ points, Pwono led Etzella with 23 points and 14 rebounds
– Etzella only made 5 « 3-point-shots » and had 20 turnovers (Esch had 19 turnovers as well)
– Jairo Delgado ends his playing career after a long and successful career


Game 1 of the finals (best-of-3-series) will be played on Tuesday-evening in Dudelange as T71 was the better seeded team in the regular season, it is the duell between number 3 (T71) and 4 (Esch) of the regular season, the top 2 teams Etzella (1) and Résidence (2) were eliminated in the semi-finals.
