Game day 16 was played in the men’s National 2 this weekend.
Black Star Mersch had a huge comeback in regulation to force overtime in Zolwer and finally won 92:85 after 5 extra minutes. Marquavian Stephens scored 34 points while Jeremiah Culver added 29 for the guests who have won 10 straight games! League leader US Heffingen won a close game against Avanti Mondorf, the final score was 83:67. The guests decided the game with a strong fourth quarter (24:8). Jeff Early, who made his debut for Heffingen in last week’s cup semi final, led the team with 28 points. Racing Luxembourg cruised to a 69:54 victory over BC Mess. Flenard Whitfield led his team with 23 points. The Black Frogs Schieren were able to grab a 86:59 win on the road in Bascharage behind 32 points by Joshua Reynolds.
With these results, the 6 play-off teams are known 2 game days before the end of the regular season. Heffingen, Mersch, Schieren, Racing, Zolwer and Mondorf will compete for the two direct promotion spots and the 3rd place that will allow a team to play the promotion series.
The bottom 3 teams Mess, Bascharage and Telstar will compete with Nitia Beetebuerg and Clervaux from the National 3 in a promotion/relegation group.
