Luxembourg’s women were able to grab a surprising and amazing 77:64 win at home over Bosnia and Herzegovina, number 17 in the FIBA world rankings on Sunday at the Coque in Kirchberg.
Ehis Etute was sensational once again and clearly the player of the game, she finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks and received international attention with her performance.
The victory was a big surprise for her: „Before the start of this campaign, I expected us to have a good chance of beating Switzerland but honestly, I did not believe that we could beat Bosnia and Herzegovina, they are ranked so much higher than us in the FIBA world rankings. However, when we say their first game against Montenegro (Bosnia lost 70:91), we started to think that a victory could be possible. »
A few minutes into the game, it became clear that Luxembourg would have a chance to beat the opponent: „It was an amazing team effort from tip-off until the final buzzer. We fought extremely well and managed to dominate the rebounding battle despite being shorter as a team. We were present, we played the necessary energy and that made the difference in this game. Bosnia and Herzegovina does not box out that well and we were able to take advantage. It was a great win for our team. »
