Game day 25 was played in the men’s National 2 this weekend. While the race for the places 2 and 3 becomes more and more interesting,
On Saturday, Avanti Mondorf faced a must-win against the Kordall Steelers and the hosts had to play without the suspended US-player Small. This difficult challenge opened the door for Gilles Fassotte to show his scoring abilities as the guard scored a new JICL season high 41 points. The previous record was 30 points held by Max Schmit (Kordall) and Patrick Hoffmann (Mamer). Fassotte made 9 shots from behind the 3-point-line, you can watch a video of his highlights made by his club Mondorf in the video above. With this 96:88 victory, Mondorf stays in the race for the second and thrid place, the team has overtaken Bascharage in the standings but their opponent has played one game less.
The already promoted Gréngewald Hueschtert team won 80:69 against Bascharage. Behind a big game by Janssen (30 points), the greens showed that they will continue to play at their best even if they have reached their main goal already. In this game, Gréngewald made 15 three-pointers by 6 different players. Bascharage is under pressure over the next weeks as Zolwer has a 1-point lead and earns the direct comparison and Mondorf is trying to put more pressure on the team.
Zolwer won on the road against BC Mess on Sunday (95:85) and stays in second place behind leader Gréngewald. Gilles Weis scored 22 points while Council (24) and Jenkins (22) scored over 20 points as well to overcome a game-high 35 by Caldwell.
