The women team of Gréngewald Hueschtert travelled to Portugal on Tuesday afternoon for their EuroCup qualification game against Uniao Sportiva/Azoris Hotels (22:30). The rematch in Luxembourg will be played next Wednesday (October 12th).
The opponent is mostly unknown for head Francois Manti and his team: „To be honest, I do not know anything about the championship in Portugal. I saw the stats of our opponent’s first season game, and that’s it. We have to focus on ourselves, play our basketball and use our strengths. We have mutliple options, both under the baskets and outside that we want to use in our advantage. »
Last season, Gréngewald already participated in the EuroCup qualification, but came up short although the team was able to compete with the opponent from Italy for most parts of the 2 games. This year, Francois Manti is confident that Gréngewald can challenge the opponent once again: „We all know that the task ahead is difficult but we are confident and know that we have a good team as well. We want to return home with a result that will give us the chance to fight for the qualification next week » says the head coach. He knows what will be important in this game. „We have to play strong on the defensive end, that is the most difficult thing on the road. We can not give the opponent too much confidence. I know that we can beat the opponent of we play well as a team. »
