On Wednesday-evening, Gréngewald Hueschtert played its second game of the EuroCup campaign. In Antalya (Turkey), the team of coach Francois Manti lost a dramatic game by 1 point, the final score was 73:74.
After a strong start by Gréngewald into the game (14:3 lead after 7 minutes), the momentum was clearly on the side of the champion of Luxembourg. Antalya was able to react and cut the deficit to only 1 point until the break. However, the « Greens » still led the game 33:32 after 20 minutes.
Gréngewald kept playing at a high level after the break and even took a 5-point lead with just 3 minutes remaining in the game. Then, a dramatic final sequence would change the outcome of the game. Up by 1 point, Van Kleunen missed a layup on one end and Samantha Logic fouled Antalya’s Henderson on the 3-point line. While Logic claimed that she fouled before a shot attempt, the referees gave Henderson 3 free-throws. She would make the first 2 attempts and miss the last one on purpose and the team from Turkey won the game by 1 point (74:73). What a dramatic loss for Gréngewald, Van Kleunen scored 31 points while Logic added 19 points.
