Gréngewald takes leader position / Zolwer is on the rise

After 13 game days in the National 2, Gréngewald Hueschtert has taken the sole leader position in the standings.

The team around Ted Schleimer, who scored 20 points (six 3s), won a big game against Kordall Steelers 89:68. Overwater (28) and Barnes (26) were an unstoppable duo as the greens, that hit 14 shots from outside the arc, profit from Bascharage’s loss to climb to the first place. Barkley scored 30 points for the guests that have won 8 out of 13 games so far.

Bascharage, playing without injured professional player Logins, lost 70:89 in Zolwer. The hosts have a winning record for the first time this season (7:6) and they will look to climb the standings over the next weeks. Gilles Weis (20 points) and Vic Heuschling (13) added big numbers as Council led his team with 24 points. Bascharage had 5 players in double digits but no other scorer as only 6 players stepped on the floor. The team of coach Adam Radomirovic drops to the second place in the standings with a record of 10 wins and 3 losses, still in a very comfortable position.

Only a few days after their cup loss against Arantia, Avanti Mondorf reacted and clearly beat Mamer 103:70. Small led his team with 29 and Gilles Fassotte erupted for 26 points while Joel Wealer added 15. Mondorf is now tied with Kordall at the 3rd place in the standings. Mamer is now the sole bottom team of the league with 1 win out of 13 games. McDaniel (22) and Patrick Hoffmann (21) led the team in scoring.

Black Star Mersch was able to grab its second win of the season on Sunday by beating BC Mess 98:72. With a new professional player, Marquavias Gordon (game high 36 points), the team of coach Rainer Kloss controlled this game from start to finish. Mess had to play without suspended JICL topscorer Maxime Sunnen, their record drops to 5:8.
