Tessy Hetting, Michèle Orban and Laure Diederich, 3 players that were part of the women’s national team for many years, have ended their career with team Luxembourg in the last months. All 3 players will be honored on Thursday-evening during half-time of the game Luxembourg – Switzerland.
Nadia Mossong, team leader of our national team, says that „Michèle, Laure and Tessy are the players of my generation in the national team. I have played with them since we were 17 years old, you could always count on them to play for team Luxembourg and show strong performances. I think it is very appropriate that they will get their farewell ceremony. They have also played a big part to help Luxembourg play on this higher level again and therefore they can also enjoy these games from the stands right now. » Asked about her personal career, Mossong says that she „does not have a concrete plan. I am looking at it step by step and as long as my body is feeling well, I am going to continue. »
National team head coach Mariusz Dziurdzia says that the current team is the first step towards a generational change in the women’s national team and adds that what these 3 players have done for Luxembourg’s basketball is „simply remarkable ».
