Our men’s national team played the first game of the games of the small States of Europe on Monday. The team of coach Ken Diederich was able to beat Cyprus 78:62.
After a slow start, Luxembourg trailed 16:20 at the end of the first quarter but a strong second quarter run, led by 2 straight 3-pointers by Philippe Gutenkauf (video), helped Luxembourg grab a 39:30 lead at the break. Cyprus managed to come back into the game but Luxembourg finished the 4th quarter strong and finally won by 16 points.
Clancy Rugg (24 points), Philippe Gutenkauf (19) and Alex Laurent (15) scored in double digits for team Luxembourg.
