Luxembourg’s women national team played its first game of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers on Thursday evening. In Switzerland, the team of head coach Mariusz Dziurdzia was able to grab a victory, the final score was 56:48, congratulations to our ladies!

Evita Herminjard could not be stopped in the opening quarter, the guard of Switzerland scored 10 points including the buzzer beater to end the first 10 minutes as the hosts took a 17:16 lead into the first small break. Luxembourg played well in the opening quarter and had multiple baskets after moving the ball around nicely. Luxembourg only scored 10 points in the second quarter as Switzerland went into the break with a 31:26 lead.
In the third quarter, Esmeralda Skrijelj showed her quality and had a strong scoring run to keep Luxembourg in the game, she also scored a nice floater to end the quarter, Luxembourg only trailed by 1 points heading into the final quarter (37:38). In the final quarter, Luxembourg made key plays to create a 7-point lead with 3 minutes remaining. The FLBB squad continued to play well and celebrated a second straight victory in Switzerland after already winning at the same place in November 2022.
Esmeralda Skrijelj (16 points, 9 rebounds) was honored with the MVP of the game award for team Luxembourg.
