On Sunday afternoon, our women’s national team played the fourth game of the Women’s EuroBasket 2023 qualifiers. On the road in Switzerland, Luxembourg earned the first win in the competition.
The FLBB squad started the game extremely well. Jablonowski and Mreches helped the guests jumped out to an early 17:6 lead. Switzerland tried to react but the FLBB squad played great defense and kept attacking so that the lead was extended until the breal when Luxembourg led 38:23.
The question in the second half was if the hosts would be able to come back and challenge Luxembourg once again. However, the FLBB squad did not allow the opponent to reduce the deficit and even extended the lead with a 15:10 third quarter. In the final quarter, Luxembourg continued to play well and finally won this game clearly.
Faith Ehi Etute had another double double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, Catherine Mreches led Luxembourg with 24 points and Lisa Jablonowski scored 17 points to lead team Luxembourg.
