Our men’s national team played the first out of 4 games in the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 PreQualifiers on Saturday in Croatia. The hosts were too strong for our national team, Luxembourg lost 62:98 in front of a small crowd in Opatija.
Starting 5: Gutenkauf, Grün, Kovac, Laurent, Rugg
Croatia did not miss a shot attempt in the first 5 minutes of the game and led 16:4. Ken Diederich reacted by taking an early timeout and Luxembourg showed a reaction, but trailed 14:31 after the first quarter. The hosts made 17/19 shots from 2-point-range in the first half and led 57:34 at the break. Croatia was able to slowly extend the lead in the second half and won the game by 36 points in the end.
Alex Laurent led Luxembourg with 18 points, Clancy Rugg added 11 points for the FLBB squad.
