A full game day was played in the men’s National 2 this weekend.
The big surprise comes from Mamer where the bottom team in the standings was able to beat leader Gréngewald 79:69! Sparked by the return of Denell « Nelly » Stephens (12 points), Mamer was able to grab only its 3rd win of the season (3:17) against the greens that are still clearly on top of the league (17:3). Billy McDaniel led his team with 23 points, Patrick Hoffmann added 17, Henkel led the guests with a personal season-high 29. This loss is clearly a warning to Gréngewald that a possible promotion to the LBBL is still far away even if their lead in the standings seems comfortable.
Zolwer defends the second place in the standings with a start-to-finish victory over the Kordall Steelers, the final score was 100:61. While Jenkins (25 points) and Council (18) led the team, Jérôme Lanners stepped up with 14 points. Zolwer imrpoves to 14:6, one point ahead of 3rd placed Bascharage and 3 points behind leader Gréngewald. Kordall (9:11) is sitting in the middle of the standings.
The Hedgehogs Bascharage remain the 3rd ranked in the league after a clear 91:68 victory over BC Mess. With Kennedy (26 points), Ndiaye (21), Morton (17) and Kuhlmann (13), 4 players scored in double digits.
Avanti Mondorf remains in a good position after beating Black Star 85:65 behind 5 players with 9+ points. Small (23) led the team while Ross and Bartholomey added 13. The team from Mersch needs to win games in order to put some pressure on BC Mess over the next weeks in the fight against relegation. Next weekend, Mersch faces a must-win situation when they play in Mondercange.
