The season start for Thomas Grün and his team Gladiators Trier was very difficult. The first season game was cancelled because of the Covid-19-virus, then the team played only one game and won after a strong overall performance by our national team player. Hence after that season opening win, bad news came again for Trier as the team was in contact with a person who got tested positive which resulted in being in quarantine again.
„The situation in Trier is similar to the situation Luxembourg, we should reduce our social contacts to a minimum and stay at home if possible. Our team is in quarantine until the 7th of November because we had contact with a person that got tested positive. The situation is very challenging because the season will probably continue immediately after our quarantine so we have to stay in shape at home on a few square meters. »
Furthermore, the mental aspect is also playing a big role: „The situation is mentally challenging. We practiced long 6 weeks to get ready for the season, then our season opener at home was cancelled, we started with a big road win and then we had to go back into quarantine which was really frustrating. Everybody should have the mindset to take day by day in this situation. We have to make the best out of our workouts at home and later in our team practices when they are allowed. »
