The 4th game day was played in the men’s National 2 on Saturday evening.
2 teams remain unbeaten, Avanti Mondorf was able to win a close game against newcomer Black Frogs Schieren 71:68. Jalen Green (28 points) and Blake Seits (24) led the team while Steve Kuhlmann added 12 points. After missing games due to a hand injury, Schieren’s professional player Williams returned, he scored 25 points to lead the team. The team from Mondorf remains unbeaten (3:0) while Schieren (1:3) is at the bottom of the standings after the first game days, tied with 3 other teams.
The second unbeaten team of the league is Mambra Mamer (3:0). The team of coach Mike Smith clearly won 94:71 on the road against Wiltz (1:3). Billy McDaniel had a high scoring game with 41 points, Dakota Zinser added 23 points against his former team to help Mamer earn a spot on top of the standings.
The Hedgehogs Bascharage (2:1) were able to beat BC Mess (1:3) 94:76 behind Tyrell Sturdivant’s 46 points in his season debut for his new club. Chris Barton added 23 points as both US-players combined for 69 points. With Sturdivant on board, it now be interesting to see how strong Bascharage can become over the next weeks.
A surprising result comes in from Mersch where Black Star (2:2) won 73:68 against Racing Luxembourg (1:3). Mayfield (24 points), Evans (21) and Hoffmann (15) led the hosts to this victory as Black Star knocked down 11 shots from outside the arc. The team from the capital has a 1:3 record after 4 game days, not the start into the season the ambitious club hoped for.
The Kordall Steelers (2:1) did not play this weekend.
