National team player Magaly Meynadier will play in Marburg next season. After she could not find a agreement to stay in Saarlouis, Meynadier decided to join a different team from the DBBL (first league in Germany). Meynadier missed the entire 2022/23 season with an injury but made her comeback with the national team this summer at the games of the small States of Europe.
Meynadier is quoted on the DBBL website: „I chose Marburg because it’s a very likeable and family-friendly club, and I like that. I also think highly of coach Patrick Unger and I am looking for a new challenge with him. My goal is very clear that we play at the top, I want to reach the playoffs and at least get into the semi-finals of the cup. And I’m looking forward to the good atmosphere in the gym.”
Quote by our national team head coach Mariusz Dziurdzia: „I am very happy for Magaly that she was able to find a new club after she could not find an agreement with Saarlouis to extend the contract. I think that staying in the first German league was the right choice and Marburg is a city with a big basketball tradition. Patrick Unger is a very experienced coach and the people will love Magaly just like every other place she has been. I am proud about the way Magaly managed to come back step by step after her injury. »
