Big win for Avanti Mondorf in the National 2 play-offs! On Friday-evening, the team of coach Philip Dejworek was able to beat direct opponent Mambra Mamer 89:86. It was the first game of the 7th game day in the play-offs.
It was the game between two teams that were tied in the standings in second place going into this game! With this 1-point victory, Mondorf regains the second place in the standings and takes a 1-point lead over Mamer with 3 remaining games.The direct comparison between both teams is not decided yet because Mamer won the first duell in the play-off by exactly 3 points (64:61) so that the points difference of all games in the play-offs will determine the tie breaker if both teams have the same amount of points after 10 games. Mamer’s current points difference is +41 (602:561) while Mondorf’s points difference is +26 (558:532). On Friday, Mondorf stormed back in the last quarter (31:19) to win the home game. Blake Seits led the team with 28 points and Steve Kuhlmann added 18 points. (scorers below)
On Saturday, Racing Luxembourg was able to beat Black Star Mersch 82:71 in Mersch. With this victory, the team from the capital reduces the deficit to 3rd placed team Mamer to just 1 point! 5 players scored in double digits for the guests, Max Hilger led the team with 17 points as the guests had a strong finish (23:12 fourth quarter) to win the game. Racing will play on the road in Mamer next weekend with a chance to tie with the opponent at 3rd place.
Already promoted, the Kordall Steelers did not take the foot of the gas and clearly beat the Hedgehogs Bascharage 90:62. The hosts decided the game with a 23:9 second quarter.
