On the last game day in the men’s National 2, Avanti Mondorf has defended its third place on Saturday evening and with this win, the club qualified for the promotion-series against AB Contern. In a best-of-3 series, the winner will play in the LBBL in the upcoming 2022/23 season.
The Hedgehogs Bascharage entered the game against the Kordall Steelers with a difficult challenge ahead. They needed to win the game and hope for a loss by Mondorf at the same time. The team of coach Adam Radomirovic did not waste time to show that they will leave the floor as the winner on Saturday, Bascharage already led by 20+ points in the second quarter. After only leading by 2 points at the break, Mondorf was under pressure entering the second half. In the end, the final score was 79:69 in favor of the team from Mondorf and they will now have home court advantage in a series against Contern. Small and Ross took over responsibility to lead their team to this key win by combining for 61 points.
Meanwhile, the two promoted teams Zolwer and Gréngewald met on Saturday in a game without any influence on the final standings. Zolwer won 87:83 behind 20 points by Gilles Weis, Vic Heuschling added 15 points while Janssen scored a game-high 36 for the greens.
Black Star earned a win to end the season behind 50 points by US-player Gordon, Mersch won 90:83 against BC Mess.
