In the men’s National 2, a full game day was played on Saturday-evening.
Mamer was able to grab its first win this season by beating Black Star 95:89 on the road. In fact, Mamer won this game without Denell Stephens, head coach Yannick Tuffel was in action as the team had a balanced scoring effort: McDaniel led the way as usual with 34 points, Patrick Hoffmann (21), Pit Diederich (16), David Fontaine (10) and Luc Decker (10) scored in double digits as well. Pit Hansen led Black Star with 27 points.
The Kordall Steelers took control of the game in Mondorf early and had a big lead in the first half. In the end, the guests won 87:75 behind Barkley’s 37 points.
BC Mess earned a surprisingly clear win against Zolwer by beating the opponent 90:68. Coleman led his team with 31 points while Maxime Sunnen scored 23 points. It was the third win for Mess this season, Zolwer and Mess finish round 1 with the same record (3:4).
Gréngewald came up with a very important 81:72 win over the guests Bascharage. Overwater had a game-high 32 points for the greens that took a big 20+ point lead early in the game. The guests tried a comeback after the break but could not turn the game around in the final quarter.
After 1 round (all teams have played against each other once), the Kordall Steelers are on top of the standings with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss. Gréngewald and Bascharage follow the leader while Mondorf also has a winning record after 7 games. In total, all teams will meet 4 times this season. 2 teams will promote to the LBBL while the 3rd placed team will have a chance to promote in a best-of-5 series against the third last placed team from the LBBL. 2 teams will move down to the National 3.
