The first game day was played in the men’s National 2 this Friday and Saturday.
Avanti Mondorf started the season with a 70:59 win over Black Star Mersch on Friday. Jalen Green (25 points) and Blake Seits (23) had high-scoring games in their first official game in Luxembourg while Steve Kuhlmann added 10 points in his debut for Mondorf. Markese Mayfield (30) was the topscorer of the game but it was not enough for the guests to grab a win.
In the duell between the two promoted teams, Black Frogs Schieren won 98:80 against Wiltz behind 43 points by Walter Williams who made 16/22 shots. Brandon Suggs (15) and Thierry Schaaf (13) added double digit scoring for the team of coach Nigel Tolentino.
Mambra Mamer had a very strong start into the season, the team of coach Mike Smith won 97:90 on the road against Racing Luxembourg. Dakota Zinser (33 points) and Billy McDaniel (30) combined for 63 points while Sam Ferreira (18) and Lazar Lukic (15) also had high scoring games. Mamer won the final quarter 25:18 to secure the victory.
The Kordall Steelers started the season with a convincing victory, 105:77 over BC Mess. It was a start-to-finish win as the Steelers took an early lead, 5 players scored in double digits for the guests: Spencer Scott led his team with 32 points.
The Hedgehogs Bascharage did not play this weekend in the 9-team league.
