Official statement regarding the withdrawal of Vibball Basketball club teams

On November 11th, we were officially informed by the management board of Vibball Basketball Club of their decision to withdraw all of their teams from the championship competitions. Facing this exceptional situation, we have initiated discussions with all relevant parties to explore possible solutions that would serve the best interests of the players and the sport of basketball.
Despite our efforts, we were unable to convince the management board of Vibball to continue their participation in the competitions in Echternach. Furthermore, as there are no provisions within our bylaws prohibiting the withdrawal of an entire club’s teams during the season, we are left with no option but to accept the withdrawal. Consequently, the matter will be handled in accordance with Article RA-25.15 of our bylaws.

Implications for the Players:
Players affected by this decision are free to request an affiliation to another club and continue competing in the current season’s championship with their new team. It is important to note that players must remain within their natural age category. At the conclusion of the season, their licenses will will be automatically reinstated in Vibball, in compliance with Article RA-25.15 of our bylaws.

Concerning the Allocation of Vibball’s Championship Spots:
Given the large number of players affected by this decision, and the high likelihood that surrounding clubs will receive the majority of transfers, we have decided that, should a club require additional teams in a particular age category to accommodate all transferred players, that club may claim Vibball’s spot in the respective championship.
If multiple clubs request Vibball’s spot in the same age category, priority will be given to the club that has received the highest number of transferred players in that category.

For Younger Players Not Yet Eligible for Championship Competition:
We have been informed by the Mayor of Echternach that they are working on a solution to provide training sessions in Echternach for younger players. However, these players are, of course, free to transfer to another club should they they wish to.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the clubs that have expressed interest in assisting with this matter, as well as to all the parties involved in the discussions. Throughout these conversations, the well-being and future of the players have been the guiding priority.
