Clancy Rugg has been playing and living in Luxembourg for some years. The player from Basket Esch currently leads the MVP-race in the men’s Total League as he dominates under the baskets. A few weeks ago, he received the luxembourgish passport: „I was so happy! The process to get the passport took so long, and it was a lot of hard work to learn the language, pass the exams, get documents, etc.“ However, he now earns the passport which provides other opportunities. For example, Rugg and the FLBB have asked the FIBA for approval so that Clancy can compete with the national team, already in February. „I really hope I can be with the national team. It depends on if we have all our papers approved by FIBA before the deadline. So we will see I guess.“ His presence under the baskets would certainly be a huge advantage for team Luxembourg. The decision by the FIBA will come over the next days.
