T71 Dudelange is the second women’s team that qualifies for the cup final after Gréngewald Hueschtert qualified on Saturday evening. On Sunday afternoon, the team of coach Jérôme Altmann was able to beat Sparta Bertrange 86:84 at the Coque in Kirchberg in front of 900 spectators. The game was decided after overtime.
Sparta had a strong start into the game and took a 15-point lead early in the second quarter (35:20). Dudelange reduced the deficit before the break and came as close as 2 points in the third quarter, but was not able to take the lead. Sparta had another strong run and took control of the game. However, T71 stormed back in the final minutes and Mia Loyd scored a basket to put the game into overtime! (76:76, video)
In the extra period, Ehis Etute his clutch free throws to give T71 the lead, Sparta’s Martha Burse had a chance to win the game but her shot attempt from half-court did not drop.
