The short winter break is over and teams in the women’s and men’s LBBL return to action this weekend.
In the men’s LBBL, game day 15 is on the schedule.
The race for the 8 play-off spots continues. With 8 remaining game days, a lot remains possible but some teams face some pressure. The Musel Pikes and Gréngewald (both 3:11) need a winning streak to get back in the playoff mix. While the current top 6 teams – those with a winning record – seem to be on the right track to qualify sooner or later, the places 7 to 10 are currently close together. Sparta and Contern are seperated by only 2 points while Contern and Mamer have a rescheduled game to play on January 17th.
Arantia Larochette (8:6) has been on the rise before the winter break and has a chance to tie in the standings with Résidence Walfer (9:5) with a victory on the road. Contern (5:8) could make a huge step towards the play-offs with a victory against the Kordall Steelers (4:10) while Mamer (5:8) can stay in a decent position with a victory against the Musel Pikes (3:11).
Men:
Saturday:
20:00 Résidence Walfer – Arantia Larochette
20:15 T71 Dudelange – Sparta Bertrange
20:30 AB Contern – Kordall Steelers
20:30 Basket Esch – Gréngewald Hueschtert
Sunday:
17:00 Mambra Mamer – Musel Pikes
17:15 Etzella Ettelbruck – Amicale Steinsel
The standings:
In the women’s LBBL, game day 13 will be played.
The unbeaten leader Gréngewald (10:0) will play on the road in Esch (2:9) against a team that has not fulfilled the expectations so far this season. If Esch wants to make a push towards the play-offs, they will probably have to win all 5 remaining games in order to catch Contern (6:4) or Wiltz (6:5). If Contern beats Wiltz and Esch loses against Gréngewald, the 6 play-off teams are known.
