Report by the coaching staff:
Our U15 players had a great start into the tournament. Thanks to their aggressive defense and good transition play, they managed to build big leads in the first halves which allowed them to work on more tactical things at the end of the games. All the players could contribute to the wins and gain some confidence.
JS Chécy 39 – 90 Luxembourg
Luxembourg 100 vs 49 Orléans Loiret Basket
Luxembourg 88 – 65 Cannet Côte d’AzurBasket
On Saturday night, our players went to the Betlclic Elite game between Orléans and Roanne. LaMonte Ulmer, who played for Zolwer during the 2011-2012 season, was playing for Orléans and added 13 points in only 17 minutes.
In the semi final, the Luxembourgish Team faced La Cournevue who finished second in their group. Since they play a similar style of basketball, they were used to an uptempo game and tried to slow the Luxembourgish team down with a 2-3 zone defense. It took our players a while to take control of the game.
La Cournevue 74 – 89 Luxembourg
In the final, our U15 team played their second game against Le Cannet, a team they beat comfortably by 23 points in the first game. However, this time the game would be different. After a bad start, Le Cannet managed to build a small lead. They also tried to break our offensive rhythm with a 2-3 zone, while our players where struggling with the outside shots. 5 minutes before the end, we finally made a couple of outside shots and managed to get some stops which made the difference.
Scorers in the final: Cavor (2), Schanen (2), Daleiden (4), Bugeja (22), Jeitz (2), Konan (32 – 8 3pts), Stoffel (15), Muller (0), Wolter (0), Latinovic (3), Kraama (1)
