Our U16 boys will play the European Championship (Division B) over the next days in Sofia (Bulgaria).
Preview by the coaching staff:
„Today (Tuesday), our U16 men’s national team will leave for Sofia (Bulgaria) to participate in the FIBA Europe U16 Division B Championship. During 10 days, 22 teams will compete for the championship and the possibility of moving up to Division A. The teams are divided into 4 groups. Luxembourg is in Group B where it will face Iceland, Bulgaria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
During intensive preparation, with around ten warm-up matches, the team gained momentum by showing a lot of application in training at the same time.
The team made two exchanges against Holland (division A) and Austria (division B), without forgetting the Youth Trophy in Mersch where the team faced Portugal, Ireland and Romania (three nations of division B).
All these matches have shown the team the level that will await them and also the points to improve in order to be able to compete with the teams in the European championship.
The team is now focused and highly motivated to face international competition in the coming days.
The coaching staff hopes that our young people will represent Luxembourg well and that we will show a good image of training in Luxembourg.“
