It was the last game for this summer for our youth national teams.
Coaching staff:
„We played our last game against Bulgaria without our best player, who unfortunately got injured. We knew we were inferior under the basket and in rebounds, but overall our team performed well against these physically superior opponents.
We finish this European Championship in 16th place. In retrospect, there is a little bitter aftertaste, because with a bit more luck we could have won 2 more games in the group stage and played for a better placement. The fact that we went to this championship with a young, inexperienced team (only one player with European Championship experience) should not be underestimated. It was clear to us from the start that this would not be an easy task. The girls showed a good attitude in every game and played with heart and passion, which is what we wanted to see as a staff. We could observe that we still have problems against teams that have a physical and aggressive style of play, which forced us to lose several balls per game.
The girls showed exemplary behavior throughout the European Championship and represented Luxembourg with honor.
We would like to thank all the parents for supporting us and the girls throughout the season and the FLBB for making it possible for us to take part in the European Championships. »
