On Sunday, our U18 ladies played the second game of the European Championship (Division A). Against Finland, the FLBB squad showed some strong stretches, but the opponent was too strong overall, Luxembourg lost 63:89.
Luxembourg played well in the first half and only trailed by 2 points (18:20) at one point in the second quarter. Isa Hämäläinen had a strong scoring first half (11 points), Finland led 41:27 after 20 minutes. Luxembourg started the second half well and kept the deficit around 10 points for a couple of minutes before Finland was able to extend the lead and finally celebrate a comfortable victory.
Joyce Isi Etute led the team with 15 points and 13 rebounds, Isa Hämäläinen added 13 points.
The third game of the competition, and last game of the group phase, is scheduled for Monday at 16:30 against Israel.
