A full game day is scheduled in the LBBL this Saturday and Sunday. The women are back in action after the national team break and the men start the second round of the season.
US Heffingen starts the second round of the season with a lot of pressure as the team sits on the bottom of the standings with a 1:10 record. A difficult challenge is ahead for Heffingen as they host the highest scoring team Résidence Walfer (9:2). Next to Heffingen, AS Zolwer is also on the bottom of the standings (1:10) and reacted by firing head coach Carlo Ferrante during the week, interim head coach is William Barber. The team will get some help as Thomas Henkel joined the team on loan from Gréngewald, the German player was inactive in Gréngewald as the team already plays with 3 non-JICL players. Zolwer will host Sparta on Sunday in a game where 2 new head coaches will face each other. Christophe Flammang will make his debut on the bench for Bertrange as the team is trying to improve the 3:8 record and re-enter the play-off spots. 4 teams are leading the standings with a 9:2 record at the moment and it is possible that all 4 will still be on top after game day 12 as there is no direct comparison. T71 faces the struggling Musel Pikes (3:8) while Basket Esch wants to take revenge for losing the opening game of the season against Arantia (5:6). Champion Amicale is playing on the road against the strong newcomer Gréngewald (4:7) while Etzella will try to grab a road win in Contern (5:6).
In the women’s league, Amicale Steinsel (4:4) recently added a new professional player, Alexis Pana, she will make her bedut this weekend on the road against Wiltz (1:8). The unbeaten champion T71 (7:0) will host the Musel Pikes (3:6) while Gréngewald (5:2) will try to grab its 6th win of the season at home against Etzella (4:5). After a strong start into the season, Contern (7:1) faces Sparta (6:3) in the top game of the week. On Sunday, the winless team from Zolwer (0:8) is looking for a first win of the season against Basket Esch (2:6).
