The 26th game day was played in the men’s National 2 this weekend.
The key game of the weeekend was played in Bascharage where the hosts and Mondorf battled for the third place in the standings. In the end, Mondorf came out victorious and won 88:80. Just like last week, the team of coach Philip Dejworek was on fire from the 3-point-line with 13 made shots from behind the arc. Gilles Fassotte scored 22 points (5 threes) and Small led the team with 30 points. This win puts Mondorf up by 2 points over Bascharage, but the Hedgehogs have played one game less so far. Mondorf has won the direct comparison, which could become extremely important at the end of the season.
On Sunday, Zolwer managed to become the second promoted team with a 96:71 win over Mamer. After this weekend’s results, Mamer relegates to the National 3. After the women team of Zolwer managed to promote to the LBBL, the men’s team followed the women and Zolwer will have two clubs in the LBBL next season. Vic Heuschling had a strong game on Sunday, he scored 25 points as his team decided the game with a big 3rd quarter.
League leader Gréngewald managed to earn another victory by beating Black Star 89:53. 4 players of the greens scored in double digits as Janssen (20), Barnes (19) and Schleimer (16) were the main scorers. While Gréngewald hit 17 three-point-shots, Black Star did not make a shot from outside the arc, it was the first time this season a team has not made a « 3-pointer ».
Meanwhile, BC Mess managed to grab a 103:91 win on the road against the Kordall Steelers. Mess overcame 54 (!) points by Kordall’s Hobbs and 25 points by Max Schmit, but no other Kordall-player scored more than 6. Caldwell (32), Alexander (28) and Yorick Melchior (19) led BC Mess to this victory, the team has now officially secure a place in the second league next season.

2 game days and one rescheduled game remain to be played in the National 2. Gréngewald and Zolwer have already promoted to the LBBL, Black Star and Mamer have relegated, the only open decision remains which team can qualify for 3rd place and compete for promotion against the third last placed team from the LBBL in a best-of-3 series. The opponent is most likely to be AB Contern, but the Musel Pikes and Telstar are also still candidates to play that series.
